Caroline Haskell and Ann Todd Jealous co-wrote Combined Destinies: Whites Sharing Grief about Racism to begin conversations that encourage self-examination and compassion regarding racism. Both are experienced psychotherapists skilled at facilitating dialogue about racial issues and they understand the challenges of such discussions. Join the DWMC in celebrating these courageous women and engaging this pivotal issue that impacts our personal lives, our politics, and our country. The public is invited to attend.
Ms. Haskell recently retired as the Senior Director of Health and Wellness Services at CSUMB. She is also a founding member of Whites for Racial Equity. Caroline is in an interracial marriage where her “whiteness” is regularly examined with her Japanese American husband. Ms. Jealous’ interest in human rights began as a teen when she was part of the first desegregated class at public high school for girls in Baltimore. She is a founding member of the Monterey Chapter of the National Coalition Building institute. Ann married 53 years ago when interracial marriage was illegal in Maryland; she and her white husband moved to California and Ann opened her heart to white racial grief.
