Ms. Ann Ravel, the former Chair of the Federal Election Commission, discusses the Impact of Dark Money and Social Media on elections at the May on-line webinar of the DWMC. This event is virtual, free, and the public is welcome to attend.

Ms. Ravel is currently a Candidate for California State Senate in District 15 (San Jose Area). She is a pioneer in the legal and political field who has dedicated her life to public service and to the fight for justice and equality.

She served as Chair to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) under President Obama, where she tackled dark money and the role social media played in elections. Previously, she was Chair of the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) that regulates campaign finance, lobbyist registration and reporting, and ethics and conflicts of interest; she led the first-in-the-nation fight against the Koch Brothers network when they used dark money to try to pass Proposition 32, the paycheck deception ballot measure.

Ms. Ravel was an attorney in the Santa Clara County Counsel's Office, ultimately serving as Chief County Counsel. She has served as an elected Governor on the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California, a member of the Judicial Council of California, and Chair of the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation.

Ann Ravel and her husband Steve live in Los Gatos where they raised their three children.
