Dear DWMC Members and Friends,
It is that time of year for our annual Non-Event. At this event we ask you, friends and supporters of DWMC, to stay at home and not join us. Instead, we ask you to donate to the Democratic Women of Monterey County so we can continue our mission to inspire and empower women who will be the architects of progressive social change.
Well, it seems that this year, thanks to our feckless and incompetent leader, we find we are ALL at home sheltering-in-place, waiting for leadership from Washington that is not likely to come. President Trump’s leadership is in stark contrast to Jacinda Ardern, the 39-year-old prime minister of New Zealand. Prime Minister Ardern’s COVID-19 leadership has consisted not only of clear and consistent messaging, but empathy and love. The result – there are no more active cases of COVID-19 and New Zealand is now open!
While the effects of the pandemic continue to impact us and chaos reigns in Washington D.C., will you please support the DWMC by purchasing a ticket to our Non-Event? Your support allows the DWMC to deliver the change we so desperately need to end the reign of Donald Trump and his minions in 2020.
Democrats believe healthcare is a human right, that racial and ethnic diversity in America is a strength, and that our economy should work for everyone, not just a select few. The good news is the majority of Americans share these values. Yet these values are constantly attacked, undermined, and deafened by the Republican party. With so much on the line, including our very democracy, we need your support now more than ever.
We don’t have to tell you – facts and truth matter. Help us elect leaders who believe in science. Help us elect leaders for whom Black Lives Matter, who will not put children in cages, who will not blackmail foreign leaders, and who will not fire dedicated civil servants in retribution for telling the truth. Help us elect leadership that will not allow the death of thousands of fellow Americans through incompetence and mismanagement. And perhaps, most importantly, help us elect leaders with the empathy and love that New Zealand’s female head of state has so aptly demonstrated.
