2028 Scholarship
With heavy hearts, we share the sad news of the passing of our beloved sister and board member Laura Collins Abihider. Laura was a pillar of strength, a passionate advocate for justice, and a champion for our community. Her unwavering dedication to creating a better world touched countless lives, inspiring us all to do more and be better.
Laura’s impact on Monterey County and on each of us is immeasurable. her wisdom, compassion, and tireless efforts will continue to guide us as we strive to uphold the values she lived by. We will miss her dearly, but we will honor her legacy by carrying forward her mission and remembering the light she brought into our lives.
Laura had a profound impact on the DWMC. In that vein, and with the blessing of her family, the DWMC has established the Laura Abihider Women in Leadership 2028 Scholarship. This scholarship will support the political education and training of women running for political office in Monterey County in 2028, the next General Election.
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations be made to this scholarship so that Laura’s tireless work of promoting women in leadership, especially within the political arena, continues on.
