Water and wastewater removal at reasonable cost is a top concern for Marina Coast ratepayers. Seawater intrusion and over-pumping pose grave problems for our water supply, and on the legal front, the battle against CalAm’s invasion of our aquifer continues. Countering these threats requires development of new water sources, smarter conservation and use of recycled water, investment in infrastructure and technologies, alliances with state and regional agencies, and community buy-in. As director, I bring experience, bold leadership, and legal skills to the job ensuring MCWD provides a ready source of clean, reliable, and inexpensive water—now and in the future.

I have worked to maximize efficiency of publicly owned water and wastewater services while improving social and environmental justice with the community. I championed a low income customer assistance program that is not funded from our rate revenues. I voted for the new Investment Policy providing annual interest revenue of more than $1,000,000 to fold back into the Marina Coast services budget.
