Dear DWMC Members and Friends:
This is the Seventh Annual Non-Event Letter. The past two years, we tried to find humor in the dismal activities of the current POTUS. We had a hard time finding any humor this year. This IS a time of national crisis. We believe we must rise up to meet this challenge and do whatever we can to remove this disgraceful man from office.
Now more than ever, we urge you to get busy calling, addressing postcards, marching, petition signing, and writing your elected representatives. We know that you do not have time for more political events, so, once again we are asking you to not attend our event! Instead, we encourage you to continue with all manner of resistance - support candidates committed to reversing the tide of criminality, corruption, ignorance, misogyny and the systematic destruction of our democracy – and to donate (below) to the Democratic Women of Monterey County.
Please help us prepare for the 2020 political campaign. We believe our democracy will not survive re-election of the man who, as Robert Reich noted last month, “is the living embodiment of the seven deadly sins – pride, greed, lust, gluttony, wrath, envy, and sloth.”
Your gift will give us the funds we need to support great Democrats, especially women, as they run for local, statewide, and federal office. And, we will be able to make donations to groups committed to removing this regime from the White House.
But only with your (non-tax deductible) gifts are we able to do this.
And, when you agree to not attend our event, you will be joining an impressive group of very talented Democrats who are also too busy fighting this dreadful pox on America. The list includes (but is not limited to): Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Kirsten Gillibrand, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Elena Kagan, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren, Betty Yee, Maxine Waters, Madeline Albright, Jackie Speier, Dianne Feinstein, Kimberly Ellis, Amy Klobuchar, and Sonia Sotomayor. All of these women are not only leading the fight for women's full equality, but they are also standing up to the sickening actions of this administration. We are counting on you help fund the grassroots movement.
Tickets for the non-event begin at $45 and sponsorships are available at $99. Or, name your amount – anything is welcome. (Sponsors will be noted on our web site.)
All our Board members have already signed up as sponsors!
In solidarity,
Kate Daniels Kurz
